La transizione dalla guerra alla pace dopo la seconda guerra mondiale: le relazioni politiche e diplomatiche tra l'Italia e gli Alleati dopo il 1943: l'integrazione europea
negli anni '60 e '70; il processo di allargamento europeo a partire dall'ingresso della Gran Bretagna; la Gran Bretgna e l'Europa: Westpolitik e Ostpolitik; il dibattito
attuale sull'euroscetticismo in Europa; la questione nucleare negli anni successivi alla fine della guerra fredda.
Research activities and interests:
The transition from war to peace after WWII; political and diplomatic relations between Italy and the Allies after 1943; European integration in the '60s and '70s; the
enlargement process in Europe since UK accession.
Present research interests are focused on UK’s EC policies and Ostpolitik in the years leading to the end of the cold war in Europe and on the two separate themes of
Euroscepticism and the European nuclear debate in the post-cold war years.
Since 1985, as result of successful applications for funding in coordination with the University of Roma3, Florence and Bologna she is leader and coordinator of the Pavia
research unit co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, the University of Pavia and the Machiavelli Centre for Cold War Studies (CIMA). She has recently partecipated in
the elaboration of one European project within the FP 7 framework and is presently working on a second application
