Translation as evidence for Linguistics

Programma

With re

With reference to the theoretical frameworks of English Linguistics, Interpretive Semiotics, Pragmatics and Cognitive Linguistics, the course will address some complex phenomena pertaining to each level of the language and textual systems with a view to discussing how they contribute to meaning construction and how they travel across the language and cultural divide. Data will be mainly retrieved from literary prose, drama, and movies.

Classes will comprise traditional lectures, discussion of readings, analyses of specific phenomena, and translation practice.
